Since the end of the second war, the industries grew up sharply until now. The technology has invented and completely changed our life. Now we can get a mobile phone easily; we have own our PC and laptop; We can choose our own style of dress and shoes; We can go travel as far as we can(of course, if you have enough budget to do this).
When the technology has rooted in our life, what will be thought next? We now somehow realized that the alarm is difficult to control;some softwares are hard to use; the shoes are very uncomfortable;the chairs are bad to seat. We gradually noticed that although we can get everything stuff with cheap or reasonable price, a large number of everyday things are difficult to manipulate and make us feel frustrated! The main point has revealed in Norman's book(DOET,Design of everyday thing).
Yes,user centred design is based on user' need to customize the product. It is a philosophy to guide designers to design products with end-users' requirement. With taking users' feeling into considerations, we can reduce problems mentioned above. In another hand, it means the products which follow user-centred design will make users' use convenient and satisfied in their task.
However, UCD is not a clear cut rule for people to follow. Later we will discuss the standard ISO 13407.
